You few, proud readers here may have seen the post on /. the other day about Opera 7.1 coming out, and version-leaping the Linux edition right up to parity with the other platforms. I've been using Opera 7.1 Beta for a few days now under Gentoo on Goldfinger the Dual Athlon box - it's really quite nice. Of course, that makes at least 7 browsers installed on this instance: Opera, Mozilla, Phoenix, Galeon, Konqueror, IE, Lynx ... mmmm, are there more? I really don't know. Right now I'm downloading the CVS nightly for Phoenix just for fun (Right, sorry, "Firebird", oh, wait, is that a car, an rdbms or a browser... sigh). The "advertising" supported Opera isn't half bad, and once I read the docs, I might learn something new. Will I buy it? I don't know. I'm happy enough with Konqueror and Galeon to probably not shell out real moola. On the other hand, mouse gestures aren't as bad as I thought. Do other browsers do those? Check the new Opera out at http://www.opera.com. _________________ Brian Bilbrey

Okay. The fonts in both Galeon and Firix (Phoenire) are uglier than sin, and I've not been able to configure them. Is this an Xresources setting, or some hidden config file. I won't stand for ugly fonts, not when there are so many better choices.
